Training Therapy Dogs
There are many different kinds of therapy work that you can do with your dog. They range from something as simple as “read to the dog” time at your local library to helping in highly emotional environments like hospice care. The beauty of working with therapy
dogs is that, as the handler, you can pick what kind of work to do with your dog. No matter where you choose to spend your time, it is a very rewarding experience not only for the person you are visiting but also for you and your dog.
It takes a certain kind of training to become a therapy dog team. Pet Partners requires you to pass a test with your dog. The Therapy Dogs class teaches you the skills to do this. In addition, you will learn some fun things your dog can do when you are on your visits.
The length and cost of this course varies depending on the skills your dog already possesses.
